At 10 am on 18th of September, in Plaza Bolivar, Caracas, the Comités de Tierra Urbana (Urban Land Committee), Red de Inquilinos (Tenants’ Network), Red Metropolitana de Inquilinos (Metropolitan Tenants’ Network), Campamentos de Pioneros (Pioneer Settlements) and the Conderjes Unidos por Venezuela (Caretakers United For Venezuela) gathered together for a march to the Supreme Tribunal of Justice to demand that magistrates put an end to tenant evictions.

Cancel the debt for participative reconstruction

The international IAI Days will be held in Santo Domingo from April 18 to 26, 2007, organized by the International Alliance of Inhabitants in collaboration with numerous social, academic and institutional partners.

Following an important visit from the dominican Pedro Franco of the International Alliance of Inhabitants (IAI), the ties between Peruvian inhabitants and the international organisations are strengthening.

On 3 March 2007, in the Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela, the ‘Zero Evictions’ campaign was launched by a platform of organisations working for the right to housing and the democratisation of the city. Over 2,000 people attended, from different social sectors facing the threat of forced eviction or the tragedy of not having decent housing.

More than one hundred representatives of various housing areas and residents’ associations were present at the foundation of the Federation of Neighbourhood Associations of Lima and Callao (FOVELIC) on Sunday 28 January 2007.

On 11 February 2007, the Cooperative for Social Housing and Habitat Production, COOPHABITAT: an initiative to solve the housing problems of the majority of the population who lack secure housing.

Section on Violations of the Right to Housing
On July 15 and 16, 2006, the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC) made history in Cleveland, Ohio by holding the first National Truth Commission on Poverty in the United States of America. The National Truth Commission was held in Lincoln Park, in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. Years in the planning and modeled after similar commissions in Africa and Latin America, the National Truth Commission brought people from all across the U.S. and the world to bring to light the actual suffering and economic human rights violations that many Americans endure on a daily basis.
Nearly 500 people came to listen and be heard over the course of the weekend.
