Senado de Argentina, Jornada para el acceso al suelo y a la vivienda

El día 13 de Mayo, en el Senado de la Nación se desarrolló la “Jornada de Acceso al suelo urbano, bases para una nueva normativa del derecho a la vivienda y a la ciudad”. El Encuentro se desarrolló para debatir y proponer, partiendo de la normativa vigente y de los proyectos de ley existentes en el Congreso de la Nación, los contenidos necesarios para generar una legislación que incluya un marco general de planificación urbana, de regulación del uso del suelo y de las condiciones de desempeño de los mercados del suelo e inmuebles para que el acceso a la tierra y a la vivienda puedan transformarse en derechos efectivos.

Shared memories for the future of the housing right with no boundaries

The WSF’s Day of Global Mobilisation which took place on January 26th 2008 was a success.In fact, some fifty marches, squatts, debates and assemblies simultaneously brought together, for the first time in history, tens of thousands of people in demanding the housing right with no boundaries, in rich countries as well as poor ones, north and south, east and west.The topic at hand was the suitable conclusion to the global campaign “Act together - housing for all!” launched by the IAI, HIC and FAL, which began with the World Day for the Right to Housing and the World Zero Evictions Days in October 2007. It was a mobilization that lasted four months, which saw the emergence of struggles, proposals and international solidarity, showing the commitment of the assembly of convergencyat the end of the WSF in Nairobi, as well as the signing of the Call for unity of urban social movements.

The CONAM’s national campaign of struggle for development, employment, urban reform and social rights. The national campaign of struggle of the National Confederation of Residents’ Associations (CONAM) was launched by CONAM’s National Council of Associated Bodies (CONEA) in December of 2006. Its objective is to mobilize the grassroots community movement and supporters of the Residents’ Associations in the struggle for social rights such as education, health, housing, sanitation and public transport among others, with an instrument for the universalization of these rights; generation of income and employment and a new cycle of economic and social development for the country. Also on the agenda is the amnesty of the Residents’ Associations and Neighborhood Friends’ Societies for Inland Revenue debts dating back to the 1990s.

A Dominican Proposal to the National and International Community The International IAI Days (Santo Domingo, 18th – 25th April 2007) had a direct impact on the local situation due to the fact that they had as their base the city of Santo Domingo, where the European Colonization of the Americas began in 1492, as did resistance to it. It is the capital of the Dominican Republic, one of the countries with the highest percentage of people (more than 50% of the population of the city of Santo Domingo) living in insecurity and permanently subjected to forced evictions.

La Diputada Rocío Sánchez Andía (Presidenta de la Comisión de Vivienda de la Legislatura y autora del proyecto de ley), fue la encargada de explicar los claves del proyecto.

Brasil, Jornada pela Reforma Urbana

A CONAM, CMP, MNLM, UNIÂO juntamente com outros movimentos organizados no Fórum Nacional de Reforma Urbana (FNRU) realizaram uma série de atividades em todo o país pela Moradia e Reforma Urbana. As atividades também marcaram a Semana Mundial dos Sem Teto e as Jornadas Mundiais Despejos Zero.  No dia 4 aconteceu o ápice da Jornada com a participação de cerca de 5 mil pessoas que se reuniram em Brasília para reivindicar melhores condições de acesso a moradia e serviços urbanos.

Over 1,000 people, including delegates from various regions, attended the second Evicted People's Forum, held last October 23, 2011 at the Pyramid of Remembrance in Bamako and organized by UACDDDD. It's central theme was: "Deprived of land, habitat, and rights in Africa and elsewhere: how do we get to the roots of the issues and address the problems that victims face?"

The decision to leave together was made in order to show the unity of the residents and supporters after two months of supporter presence at Dale Farm through Camp Constant.
