Eviction La Courneve, Paris (July 21 2010) A video of a forced eviction in la Courneuve on July 21, a method introduced by the new prefect. Jean Baptiste Eyraud, the president of Droit au Logement (DAL - Right to Housing Association) is outraged. He says "Dragging women with their babies, I have never seen that! When they are dealing with people in trouble, they must act differently. An intervention like that leaves marks on the minds of children. The adults were scared for them. Then I was taken into custody because I stayed at the scene after the warning from the police. " DAL, with support from the International Alliance of Inhabitants, requests for relocation of those who were evicted and, as a joined force, demands regularization of undocumented persons.

The eviction at Dale Farm is set to start on Monday 19th September at the very beginning of World Zero Evictions Days – World Habitat Days!We are calling on supporters to come and help them stop the eviction or act as human rights monitors. Some of us will be engaging in civil disobedience to prevent homes from being bulldozed.The eviction, estimated to cost 19.2 million pounds, would involve  smashing chalets and mobile-homes, and physically forcing up to 90 families, including children, the elderly and infirm, to leave the district, impoverished and with nowhere legally to live.

In the run-up to the G8 summit on debt (Edinburgh, July 2005), inhabitants’ associations and urban social movements, NGOs, volunteers, anti-debt movements, local bodies the world over are saying: enough is enough! World Social Forum Mobilization on January 26th 2008

International solidarity to achieve dignity and security in housing At this very moment, a billion people all over the world are either threatened with homelessness or living in bad housing conditions, due to large-scale investments of financial and real estate capital, social, economic and racial discrimination, wars and natural disasters. Instead of diminishing by 100 million by 2020 as laid down by Objective No. 7 of the Millennium Development Goals, this figure is destined to rise by another 700 million by 2020.

On the day of the World Cup draw, the Popular Committee of the World Cup and Olympics will have a public action in defense of “The People's Cup.” A march for the People's Cup will begin gathering at the Largo do Machado at 10am and will move towards the Marina da Goria where the draw is taking place.

Building an Urban and Communitarian Way from Porto Alegre to the Peoples’ Summit in Rio During the Thematic Social Forum in Porto Alegre which included CONAM, FCOC, IAI, FNRU, the unity of urban social movements was highlighted. Also highlighted was the fight against evictions. This debate takes place in the context of participation-building at the Peoples’ Summit and at the Peoples’ Permanent Assembly that will take place parallel to the Rio+20 United Nations Conference, where we intend to advance the construction of the Urban and Communitarian Way.

We, associations of inhabitants, international networks, voluntary groups, NGOs, public agencies, citizens of the world, express our indignation and denounce the massive forced evictions, carried out by the government of Tamil Nadu, India, from 23 November 2006, rendering around 30,000 people homeless in Chennai, including around 5,000 students. Three people died, among them a three-year-old girl who fell into the water. A further million evictions are waiting to happen all over the state of Tamil Nadu to clear all encroachments on Government land.
