A "plan" to organiza urban struggles

Abu Rayan Al-Beeroonee @ Shelter for the Poor

Abu is the executive director of Shelter for the poor, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The organization was founded to fight poverty and corruption and to defend the housing and land rights in poor areas of Bangladesh where the economic situation is very difficoult:
more than 40% of the population lives below the poverty line, migration from rural areas and the rapid urbanization of the city pushes hundreds of thousands people to become slum dwellers.
Dhaka, for example, is one of the most populous cities in the world, where 4 million people are forced to live in slums in precarious conditions and without any prospects for their future.
Abu tells us about the struggle experiences against the mass evictions in Dhaka. He underline the importance to hava a “plan”: a strategic organization at diferent level: action, media, institutions, lawyers. If we want a real social change the slum dwellers need to mobilize themselves to defend their own rights and to improve their living conditions.
