Save our homes: workshops and action!
Since 1994, the Conference has been designed primarily for tenants in privately-owned HUD housing developments, NAHT's membership base. This year, however, they have added several workshops that may also be of interest to Public Housing and Voucher tenants, namely around the HUD budget crisis in Washington and how we can join forces to fight back.
This 17th
Conference, as well as the previous one, is an open space to build collaboration to fight together for housing right, especially after the World Assembly of Inhabitants (WSF Dakar, February 2011) and in preparation of World Days for the Right to Habitat (October 2011).
Con lucha y unidad para el derecho a la vivienda
El 30 de mayo tras
26 días de ACAMPE frente al Instituto de Vivienda de la Ciudad (IVC) la unidad y las luchas de las organizaciones y cooperativas que integran el Movimiento por Vivienda Popular, lograron
que el gobierno de la ciudad se comprometa a resolver sus demandas, luego de una reunión donde además del IVC estuvieron presentes el Ministerio de Desarrollo Social y la Corporación Buenos Aires Sur.
El 11° Congreso de CONAM aprobó plataforma de lucha y eligio nueva dirección 2011-2014
En un clima de unidad política fue realizado entre los días 26 al 29 de mayo, el 11° Congreso de CONAM. Fueron 4 meses de preparación para el Congreso de la CONAM –Confedereción Nacional de las Asociaciones de Moradores. En este rico proceso fueron movilizadas más de 20 mil entidades y asociaciones de moradores del pais, que debatieon la tesis “Consolidar las Conquistas para Profundizar las Mudanzas” en más de 500 plenarias municipales, regionales y estatales, más de 2800 delegados fueron electos y más de 2000 delegados participaron de la plenaria final del 11° Congreso.

The National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty has released a report card grading the United States on its response to homelessness and its compliance with the human right to housing. “Simply Unacceptable”: Homelessness and the Human Right to Housing in the U.S.
issues failing grades in more than one category, according to international standards.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors reported a 9 percent increase in family homelessness last year, and with 1.2 million foreclosures expected in 2011 – more than any other year in American history – advocates anticipate it will only get worse.
Final Resolution, International Forum on the crisis of housing in Haiti
We, organizations of survivors living in internally displaced persons’ [IDP] camps, as well as social and grassroots organizations, assembled for three days (May 19-21, 2011) at Fany Villa in Port-au-Prince to reflect on the problem of housing within Haiti’s longstanding crisis. Following an exchange around the theme “January 12: Nightmares, Reality and Dreams,” we state:

The representatives from more than 50 camps who have united in Haiti from May 19-21, 2011 under the initiative of the Force for Reflection and Action on Housing (FRAKKA), together with other partners and comrades from other countries who participated in the International Forum on the Crisis of Housing in Haiti, have decided to mobilize at national and international levels against forced expulsions, to push the government to assume its responsibility to guarantee the right of housing for all.

CONAM se escribe con mayúsculas, porque así fue el proceso organizativo para preparar el onceavo encuentro nacional. Las bases, las colonias, las comunidades, las regiones, los municipios y los estados se prepararon para el debate, las palestras y eligieron a sus delegadas y delegados que llevaban el encargo de fortalecerla y consolidarla.
Buenos Aires, Camp for an indeterminate time before the IVC to demand housing rights
The IAI Zero Evictions Antenna South is accompanying the camp carrying out in the very centre of Buenos Aires from May 5 by various organizations which are asking for public policies to defend the right to dignified housing. It is a tense situation because of the housing crisis and the failure to provide evidenced by the UN Special Rapporteur on Housing Right during her mission the last few weeks, and that will be submitted to the ICESCR Committee (Geneva, Nov 27-Dec.3 ) whose task isto monitor the implementation of legal obligations assumed by Argentina with the ratification of the ICESCR.
