Homeless taking Over Foreclosed Houses for Valentine's Day

Minnesota Independent, News feature, Paul Schmelzer, Posted: Feb 14, 2009While delivering a where’s-the-love message on Valentine’s Day may seem like a gimmick, an action by homeless advocates to be announced this weekend is anything but a stunt, according to its organizer. On Saturday, Cheri Honkala of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign will reveal to members of the media its long-running project to find housing for homeless people in some of the many foreclosed and vacant homes on Minneapolis’ North Side and South Side.

Quieren que se declare la emergencia habitacional en Río Negro

Viedma.- El Foro Permanente por una Vida Digna que se reunió ayer en Viedma emitió un documento donde pidieron la inmediata declaración del estado de emergencia habitacional y puesta en marcha de una política habitacional integral, que de respuesta a la problemática habitacional que afecta a bastos sectores de la sociedad. También se solicitó la constitución de un fondo de emergencia provincial, subvencionado mediante el aumento de los impuestos a los grandes terratenientes de la patagonia, la apertura inmediata y sin restricciones a los listados para acceder a los lotes municipales y que el único requisito sea la necesidad, entre otros pedidos.
