Share your experience! Come present your initiative!

On 28 September 2012, a selection of five “Civil Society Initiatives for Sustainable Cities” will be presented in Geneva during the Geneva Habitat Forum 2012.

A city BY its inhabitants

Awarded on the occasion of World Habitat Day 2012, this award is open to civil society actors (CBOs and NGOs) engaged in development projects with lasting benefit to residents and local communities by improving their living conditions.

It seeks to encourage the recognition that citizens and non-governmental organizations have a proactive role to play in creating the sustainable cities of the 21st century. Around the world, many inventive and forward thinking bottom-up initiatives emerge every day.

The Geneva Habitat Forum 2012 is the opportunity to put the spotlight on these initiatives, to share their experiences, to analyze the conditions of their success as well as their sustainability, and to allow their initiators from around the world, to meet in Geneva.
